American Standard M970069-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the American Standard M970069 a replacement handle only, or does it include the faucet valve?
Handles only. The M970069 is a lever handle kit, a trim part for an American Standard faucet, so it replaces broken or worn levers on a valve that is already in the wall or on the deck. If the faucet drips or the stem is stripped, you need cartridge or stem parts as well; the handle kit won't fix a leak.
2) How do I know an American Standard lever handle kit will fit my existing faucet?
Match the part number to the faucet, not the look. American Standard handle kits are cut to a specific broach and stem on a specific faucet series, so the M970069 fits the models American Standard specifies it for. Pull the old handle, note the faucet's model number from the escutcheon, the spout underside, or the original spec sheet, and order the kit called out for that model. Two levers that look identical can have different broaches.
3) What finishes does the American Standard M970069 lever handle kit come in?
Two finishes on the M970069 lever handle kit: chrome (M970069-0020A) and Brushed Cool Sunrise (M970069-GN00A). If you're matching other trim in the same bathroom or across a block of units, chrome is the one that blends with most existing American Standard chrome faucet trim; Brushed Cool Sunrise is a warm brushed tone and won't match a chrome or brushed nickel run.
4) Are lever handles like the American Standard M970069 better than knob handles for an apartment or commercial restroom?
Levers are the usual choice for rental and public restrooms because they operate with a closed fist or forearm, which matters for tenants with limited grip and for facilities following accessible-design practice; knob or cross handles require twisting. The M970069 kit is the lever style, so swapping a knob handle for it changes how the faucet is operated, not just how it looks.
5) Can I order the American Standard M970069 handle kit in matching pairs for a two-handle lavatory faucet?
Yes, order by finish and quantity. Each finish is a separate part number (M970069-0020A for chrome, M970069-GN00A for Brushed Cool Sunrise), so for a two-handle widespread or centerset you order the same number twice rather than a hot/cold pair of different numbers. If you're doing a run of units, standardize on one finish code so the store room isn't holding mixed trim.
