American Standard M970185-2950A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the M970185 include the pop-up drain body and stopper, or just the rod?
Just the rod assembly. It is the lift rod portion of an American Standard pop-up assembly, so if your drain body, tailpiece, clevis strap or stopper is also failing you'll need those separately. For a rod that's bent, corroded or finish-worn, this is the only piece you need.
2) What is the American Standard M970185 lift rod assembly used for?
It's the lift rod for a faucet pop-up drain assembly, the vertical rod that rises behind the spout and pulls the drain stopper open and closed. American Standard catalogs it as a pop-up assembly part for faucet applications, so it's a replacement part rather than a complete drain body.
3) I manage apartments with American Standard lavatory faucets - can I stock one lift rod for all of them?
Only where the faucets share a finish. The M970185 is offered in Legacy Bronze and Brushed Nickel, and the visible rod has to match the trim on each faucet. If your units are split between finishes, stock both part numbers, M970185-2780A and M970185-2950A.
