American Standard 051217-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the American Standard Monterrey wrist blade handle used for?
It's a replacement handle for American Standard Monterrey bathroom faucets. Wrist blade handles let a user open and close the faucet with a forearm or elbow instead of gripping, which is why they turn up in healthcare, food service, and washroom retrofits. It is sold as a repair part, not a complete faucet, so the valve body and stem stay in place.
2) Does ordering one get me both the hot and cold handle?
Part 051217-0020A is a single handle. A two-handle Monterrey lavatory faucet needs two of them, so order quantity two per faucet if you are converting both sides to wrist blades.
3) Will this wrist blade handle fit any brand of bathroom faucet?
No. It's an American Standard Monterrey handle and it is built to that faucet's stem and broach. Putting it on another manufacturer's valve is not something to count on. Identify the faucet as a Monterrey before ordering.
4) Can I swap the existing knob or lever on my Monterrey faucet for a wrist blade without changing the faucet?
That's exactly what this part is for. It is catalogued as a faucet repair part, so the change happens at the handle only, with the valve body and supplies untouched. Useful for a property manager upgrading accessibility on existing lavatories one fixture at a time rather than replacing whole faucets.
5) What finish does the Monterrey wrist blade faucet handle come in?
Chrome, under part number 051217-0020A. If you're matching other trim on the same fixture or standardizing handles across a run of washrooms, chrome is the one configuration offered.
