American Standard 710292-101.2950A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What comes in the American Standard Ovation door center guide kit 710292-101?
The kit ships with 2 inserts and 1 screw. That is the complete center guide replacement for an Ovation shower or tub door, so you are not sourcing the fastener separately.
2) Is this center guide the right part for a sliding shower door that drifts or binds at the bottom?
Yes, if the door is an American Standard Ovation. The center guide is the part that keeps the panels tracking at the center of the bottom rail; worn inserts let the door wander or rub. It is sold as an Ovation repair part, not a universal guide, so it is not intended for other brands' enclosures.
3) What finish is the Ovation center guide, and will it match my existing shower door hardware?
Brushed nickel, and that is the only finish it comes in. If your Ovation enclosure's rails and handle are brushed nickel it matches; on a chrome or bronze Ovation the guide hardware will not match visually, though most of this part sits low in the bottom track where it is barely seen.
4) Does this kit include rollers or the bottom track for an Ovation shower door?
No. The 710292-101 kit is the center guide only, 2 inserts and 1 screw. Rollers, track, and seals are separate Ovation service parts, so if the door is also sagging or jumping the track you will need those in addition to this guide.
5) Can a property manager stock the Ovation center guide for turnover repairs, and how big is the package?
It is a small, light repair kit, listed at 0.45 lb with package dimensions of 10 x 6 x 1 inches, so it stores easily on a parts shelf. For a building with multiple Ovation shower or tub enclosures, keeping a couple on hand covers the most common sliding-door complaint without pulling the whole enclosure.
