American Standard 8442.001600.075 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which sink does the American Standard Portsmouth round bar sink grid fit?
It's built specifically for the American Standard Portsmouth 16-inch round bar sink. The grid is engineered to that bowl's round shape and diameter, so it is not a universal grid and won't seat correctly in a rectangular bar bowl or a different-diameter round sink.
2) What are the actual dimensions of the Portsmouth 16-inch bar sink grid?
The grid measures 12.875 x 12.813 x 1.25 inches and weighs 1.36 lbs. That footprint is smaller than the nominal 16-inch sink size because the grid drops inside the bowl rather than resting on the rim, so measure your bowl's interior bottom, not the rim, when checking fit.
3) Will a sink grid scratch the bottom of a stainless bar sink?
Not this one. The Portsmouth round bar sink grid has bottom feet that hold it off the sink floor and side bumpers that keep the frame from contacting the bowl walls, so pots and glassware land on the grid instead of the finished surface.
4) What finish does the Portsmouth bar sink grid come in?
Stainless steel only, matched to the Portsmouth bar sink so the grid doesn't read as a mismatched add-on. There is no second finish option for this grid.
5) Is this bar sink grid meant for residential or commercial kitchens?
American Standard classifies the Portsmouth round bar sink grid as a residential accessory in its luxury line. For a wet bar, in-unit kitchenette, or hospitality guest suite it's a straightforward match; for a back-of-house commercial prep sink you want a grid rated for that service instead.
6) Does the Portsmouth bar sink grid need any mounting hardware or plumbing work?
No install required. It's a drop-in bottom grid that rests on its own feet inside the bowl, so there is nothing to fasten, no drain modification, and it lifts straight out for cleaning or to clear the strainer.
