American Standard M923059-0070A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is an American Standard putty plate M923059 used for?
The M923059 putty plate is a replacement service part for American Standard bath and washroom fittings, supplied with the hole enlarged. A putty plate sits between the fixture and the deck or wall surface as the bedding plate the plumber sets in putty or sealant, so the fitting seats flat and the joint stays watertight. It ships in a no-finish version, so it is a functional part behind the fixture rather than a trim piece the user sees.
2) Is American Standard M923059 available in a chrome or brushed nickel finish?
No. The putty plate M923059 is sold in one version only, unfinished. It mounts out of sight under the fixture, so there is no finish to match to your faucet or drain trim. If you need a visible escutcheon or trim ring that matches a finish, that is a different part than this plate.
3) I run maintenance on a building with a lot of American Standard fixtures. Is the putty plate worth stocking?
It is a low-cost consumable-style part that gets damaged or lost during a fixture pull, and a bath repair stalls without it. Since the M923059 comes in a single unfinished version with no options to pick, stocking it is straightforward: one part number covers every opening it fits, so there is no finish or hand to match across a fleet of washrooms.
