American Standard M964972-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the American Standard M964972 round handle kit used for?
It is a toilet flush handle (trip lever) kit from American Standard, ordered as part number M964972-0020A. The kit replaces the external handle on the tank, so it is the part you want when the lever snaps, strips, or corrodes rather than when the flush valve itself is leaking.
2) What finish does the American Standard M964972 toilet handle come in?
Chrome is the only finish offered, under part number M964972-0020A. If the other trim in the bathroom is brushed nickel or bronze, this handle will not match it.
3) I manage several buildings with American Standard toilets - can I stock one handle for all of them?
Not safely. American Standard uses different trip levers across its tank models, and the M964972 round handle kit is one specific kit, chrome, sold as M964972-0020A. Match the kit to the tank model you are servicing rather than assuming it crosses the whole fleet.
4) Does this American Standard kit include the flapper or flush valve?
No. The M964972 kit is the round handle assembly only. A flapper, fill valve, or complete flush valve has to be ordered separately, so if you are rebuilding the whole tank plan on more than this part.
