American Standard M907728-2950A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the American Standard M907728-2950A part, the shower arm or just the escutcheon?
It is the flange only, the trim ring that covers the wall opening where the shower arm passes through. The shower arm itself and the showerhead are separate parts. If you're replacing a corroded arm, you'll need to order the arm too.
2) Do I need to pull the shower arm out to replace the flange?
Yes. A shower arm flange slides over the arm, so the arm has to come off the drop ell (or the showerhead end has to clear it) to get the old ring off and the new one on. Plan on re-taping the arm threads when you reinstall. No fasteners are involved with the flange itself; it's a slip-on trim ring held against the wall by the arm.
3) Can I use this American Standard flange on a tub and shower combination?
Yes. The flange is listed for shower and tub applications, so it works on a tub/shower wall where the shower arm penetrates the surround, not just a shower-only stall.
