American Standard M964941-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the American Standard M964941-0020A cover plate used for?
It is the small cover plate that trims out a concealed flush valve rated at 1.6 gpm. The plate hides the wall opening around the concealed valve body and finishes the installation; it is a trim part, not the valve itself.
2) Does this American Standard cover plate come with the flush valve or any working parts?
No. Ordering M964941-0020A gets you the cover plate only. The concealed flush valve, its internals, and the handle or actuator are separate items, so if the valve itself is failing this plate will not fix it.
3) Is this the small or the large cover plate for an American Standard concealed flush valve?
This is the small plate. American Standard builds concealed flush valve trim in more than one plate size, so measure the existing plate or the wall cutout before ordering, since the small plate will not cover an opening cut for the larger one.
4) I manage several buildings with concealed flush valves and the wall plates are pitted. Can I just replace the plates?
Yes, that is exactly what this part is for. Swapping the chrome cover plate refreshes the visible trim without opening the wall or touching the concealed valve, as long as the valve behind it is the 1.6 gpm concealed type this plate is made for.
