American Standard M970458-2430A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the M970458 escutcheon fit any brand of faucet spout?
Treat it as an American Standard service part. It's sold as a finish-matched replacement escutcheon for American Standard faucets, and the bore and profile are cut for the spout it was built around. Verify it against the parts breakdown for your specific American Standard faucet model before ordering rather than assuming it drops onto another manufacturer's spout.
2) I manage apartments and need the escutcheon to match the rest of the American Standard trim in the unit. How do I make sure the finish matches?
Match by the American Standard finish suffix already on the faucet, not by eye. The escutcheon carries the same suffix system used across the line: -0020A chrome, -2950A brushed nickel, -0130A polished nickel, -2430A matte black, -2780A legacy bronze, -GN00A brushed cool sunrise. Pull the suffix off the existing faucet's model number and order the escutcheon with the same one. Brushed nickel and polished nickel read very differently side by side, so guessing from a photo is how you end up with a mismatched deck.
3) Is anything else needed to install the M970458 spout escutcheon?
Plan on the escutcheon alone. Gaskets, O-rings, mounting nuts, or a spout body are separate service parts and are not part of this order. On a repair where the spout is coming off anyway, most plumbers replace the spout O-rings at the same time, since the labor is already spent.
