American Standard M964824-2430A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the M964824 stream straightener fit any brand of faucet?
Treat it as an American Standard service part. It's supplied as the replacement insert for American Standard faucets, and spout thread sizes vary by manufacturer and by model, so pull the old insert and confirm you're ordering against the same American Standard faucet model rather than assuming it threads into another brand's spout.
2) What is the American Standard M964824 stream straightener used for?
It's a faucet flow regulator, the insert that sits at the end of the spout and smooths the water into a clear, non-splashing stream. American Standard part M964824-2430A. If your faucet is spraying sideways or spitting air, this is the piece being replaced.
3) Is a stream straightener the same thing as an aerator?
Not quite. An aerator mixes air into the water to make a soft, white stream; a stream straightener like the American Standard M964824 conditions the flow into a clear laminar stream without aerating it. Kitchen and lavatory faucets use one or the other depending on the spout design, so match the part to what came out of your spout rather than swapping types.
4) Can I buy the matte black stream straightener on its own without replacing the whole faucet?
Yes. M964824-2430A is sold as a standalone service part, which is what property managers and maintenance techs want when the faucet body is fine but the outlet is clogged, damaged, or the black finish has been scratched. It's a hand-tight swap at the spout, no faucet removal.
