Getting this wrong means re-routing waste in the floor, so confirm which side your existing trap arm lands on before ordering. The drain and a stainless steel drain plate ship with the base.

No separate flange is needed. The Studio 2946STR base has an integral three-sided, 1 inch tiling and water-retention flange molded into the pan. Your backer board and tile lap over that flange so water running down the wall drains back into the pan instead of behind it.
