American Standard M907968-2430A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the American Standard M907968 trim plate fit any brand of shower or faucet valve?
Treat it as an American Standard replacement part, matched by the manufacturer part number M907968-2430A. Trim plates are cut to a specific rough-in body, so pull the model of the American Standard fixture you're servicing and confirm this number is the plate called out for it before ordering. It is not a universal escutcheon.
2) What finish does the American Standard M907968 trim plate come in?
Matte black is the finish on the M907968 trim plate, ordered as part number M907968-2430A. That is the only finish this plate is built in, so if the rest of the trim on the fixture is chrome or brushed nickel, this one won't match.
3) Is the American Standard M907968 a cover plate or an actual valve part?
It's a cover plate, not a working valve component. The M907968 is the trim plate that sits against the finished wall to conceal the rough-in opening and the plumbing behind it. Nothing in it controls or seals water, so a leak or a flow problem won't be fixed by replacing it.
