American Standard M961465-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the American Standard M961465 valve escutcheon kit, and what does it actually cover?
The M961465 is a valve escutcheon kit from American Standard, the trim plate assembly that mounts over a tub or shower valve at the wall and hides the valve body and the wall opening behind it. It is trim, not a valve: it does not control or mix water and it does not replace a cartridge or a valve body. If the valve behind the wall is leaking or won't shut off, an escutcheon kit is not the fix.
2) What finish does the American Standard M961465 escutcheon kit come in?
Chrome only, ordered as M961465-0020A. If the other trim on the shower is brushed nickel or matte black, this kit will not match it, and there is no alternate finish under this part number to switch to.
3) Can I order the American Standard M961465 escutcheon by itself, or do I have to buy the whole shower trim?
It is sold as a standalone kit under part number M961465-0020A, so a property manager replacing a cracked or corroded chrome escutcheon on an American Standard valve can order just that piece rather than a full trim set. Match the part number to the valve family you already have, since American Standard escutcheons are model specific.
