Blanco 525242 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Blanco Quatrus R15 525242 a true apron-front farmhouse sink, or does it drop into a standard countertop cutout?
It's a genuine apron-front farmhouse sink. The front panel is exposed and faces out from the cabinet run, so the base cabinet has to be modified or ordered as a farm-sink cabinet with the front stile cut away and a support platform for the sink to rest on. You cannot treat it like a standard drop-in or undermount. The apron is ergonomically shaped so you can lean in close over the bowls.
2) How is the 60/40 double bowl split on the Quatrus R15, and what is the low divide for?
Two unequal bowls, roughly a 60/40 split, so one side is larger for stacking and soaking while the smaller side stays free for rinsing or a disposer. The divide between them sits lower than the sink rim, which is the point: a roasting pan or a stock pot can straddle the divider instead of being trapped in one bowl. If you routinely wash sheet pans, that low divide is the reason to pick this over a full-height divider.
3) Does the Blanco 525242 come with a strainer or drain assembly?
No. Basket strainers are sold separately on the 525242, so budget a strainer for each bowl (or a strainer plus a disposer flange if one side takes a garbage disposal). The sink ships as the bowl body with sound dampening pads already applied to the underside.
4) What size opening does the Blanco Quatrus R15 double bowl farmhouse sink cover?
It's the 33 inch Quatrus R15 double bowl, so it's sized for the common 36 inch sink base cabinet in a kitchen remodel. Because it is apron-front, the cabinet front has to be opened up to the sink width and the cabinet depth has to accept the bowl body.
5) What does R15 mean on this Blanco sink, and does it affect cleaning?
R15 refers to the 15 mm radius in the corners of the bowls. It's a tight, squared-off modern look, but not a true zero radius, so a sponge still reaches into the corner without the hard-to-clean crevice a fully square corner leaves. Blanco pairs it with X-patterned grooves in the basin floor that channel water to the drain instead of letting it pool.
6) Which Blanco accessories fit the Quatrus R15 33 inch double bowl sink?
Blanco lists bottom grids as items 237464 and 237463, a colander as 224387, a cutting board as 231609, and a foldable drying mat as 238483. The grids come as a pair of part numbers because the two bowls are different sizes on a 60/40 layout, so order both if you want a grid in each side.
7) Should I choose a low-divide 60/40 double bowl or a single bowl farmhouse sink?
Go single bowl if your biggest concern is washing oversized cookware and sheet pans flat. The 60/40 low-divide Quatrus R15 is the compromise: you keep two bowls so you can soak on one side and rinse on the other, but the lowered divider lets a big pan sit across both instead of fighting a full-height wall. For a kitchen that runs a disposer on one side and still needs prep space, the double bowl is the more practical layout.
8) Is a stainless farmhouse sink like this loud in use compared with a cast or composite sink?
Blanco addresses it directly on the Quatrus R15: sound dampening pads are pre-installed on the underside of the bowls to cut the drumming stainless is known for. You still get the advantages of stainless over composite, corrosion-resistant steel that won't chip, which is why it holds up in rental turnovers and high-traffic kitchens.
