TOTO TBW07017U#CP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What supply connection does the TOTO L Series body shower TBW07017U need at the rough-in?
It connects to standard 1/2 inch NPT. The body spray threads onto a 1/2 inch NPT stub out from the wall, so your rough-in drop ell or fitting needs to terminate in that thread. The assembly ships with the faceplate and adapter, so no separate escutcheon is required.
2) Does the TOTO TBW07017U body spray come with a valve?
No valve is included. This is the body spray outlet only, so you have to order a separate shower valve and any volume or diverter control to feed it. Plan the valve capacity around 1.5 GPM per spray head when you are running a bank of them.
3) How far does a TOTO L Series body shower stick out from the finished wall?
Projection off the wall is 2.657 inches, with a 3.504 inch length and width overall and a 3.5 inch spray face. Unit weight is 1.9 lbs. Useful check in a narrow shower where an occupant could contact the head.
4) Is the TOTO L Series body shower suitable for an ADA compliant shower?
It is not an ADA compliant fitting. For an accessible shower stall specify an ADA compliant hand shower and control set; this body spray can still be used as a supplementary outlet where compliance is carried by other fixtures.
5) What finish and part number do I order for the TOTO L Series round body shower?
Order TBW07017U#CP for polished chrome. The #CP suffix is the chrome finish code, and chrome is the finish this round L Series body spray is offered in.
6) How many of these body sprays can I run off one shower valve at 1.5 GPM each?
Each head draws up to 1.5 GPM, so a bank of four is 6 GPM of demand at the valve. Size the mixing valve and the supply piping to the total number of outlets that can be open at once, and use a diverter if you want to run the sprays and an overhead shower separately rather than together.
7) What is the difference between ACTIVE WAVE and INTENSE WAVE on this TOTO body spray?
There are two spray modes on the head. ACTIVE WAVE gives a moderately intense spray; INTENSE WAVE is the stronger, more stimulating pattern. You switch at the head itself, not at the valve, and both run at the same 1.5 GPM maximum.
8) Will this TOTO body spray hold up in a hotel or multi-family shower?
The body is solid brass with corrosion resistant chrome plating, which is the construction you want for high turnover showers. The cover plate is square, 4 inches, over a round head, so it sits flat against tile and the plate hides the wall penetration.
