TOTO YTS406BU#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the difference between TOTO part YTS406BU#CP and YTS408BU#CP?
Both are the TOTO L Series towel shelf with hanging bar in polished chrome, and the only difference is the profile. YTS406BU#CP is the round version and YTS408BU#CP is the square version. Specify the one that matches the rest of your trim: round reads traditional, square reads more contemporary.
2) How much wall space do I need for the TOTO L Series towel shelf with bar?
Plan on roughly 23-5/8 inches of clear wall width. The unit measures 23.625 wide, 7.875 long, and 1.75 high, so it also projects into the room and needs clearance from a door swing, shower surround, or adjacent vanity edge.
3) Can the TOTO L Series towel shelf be mounted on drywall without hitting a stud?
Yes. Mounting hardware for drywall is included in the box, along with the shelf itself, so no separate anchor kit is needed for a standard drywall wall. It is a wall-mount accessory. At 4.3 pounds plus loaded towels, hitting a stud or using a backer where you can is still the better install in high-traffic or commercial washrooms.
4) Will this TOTO towel shelf match other TOTO bathroom accessories already installed?
It is part of the TOTO Global Series collection and is designed to coordinate with that line, so it will match Global Series bars, rings, and holders in the same polished chrome. If you are standardizing a run of units, order the same shape (round YTS406BU#CP or square YTS408BU#CP) across all of them.
5) Is the TOTO L Series towel shelf metal or plastic?
Solid metal construction, finished in polished chrome. That matters for multi-family and hospitality work where a plastic or hollow-tube accessory gets pulled off the wall; a solid metal body holds up to being leaned on and wiped down daily.
6) What finishes does the TOTO L Series towel shelf with hanging bar come in?
Polished chrome, in both the round and square shapes. If the rest of the washroom trim is brushed nickel or matte black, this specific part will not match it.
