TOTO THU458#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the TOTO THU458 trip lever fit?
The THU458 is a TOTO toilet trip lever, sold as a spare part with the arm attached. It's a factory replacement for the tank handle assembly on TOTO toilets, so it's ordered by TOTO model rather than as a universal handle. If you're replacing a broken handle on a TOTO two-piece or tank-type toilet, match the THU458 to the toilet it came off of before ordering.
2) Does the TOTO THU458 come with the arm, or do I have to reuse the old one?
The arm comes with it. THU458 ships plated, with the trip lever arm attached, so you get the handle and the arm that connects to the flapper chain in one part. Nothing is carried over from the old handle except the chain if yours is in good shape.
3) How do I order the right TOTO trip lever finish for a property with mixed bathroom trim?
Order by the full part number including the finish suffix, not just THU458. Polished Chrome is THU458#CP, Brushed Nickel is THU458#BN, Polished Nickel is THU458#PN. For a property manager standardizing across a building, pick one suffix and stock it; the lever body is the same part in all three, only the plating differs.
4) Is the THU458 a genuine TOTO part or an aftermarket toilet handle?
Genuine TOTO. THU458 is TOTO's own service part number for a plated trip lever with arm, which matters on TOTO tanks because the arm length and the mounting nut thread are specific to the tank they were built for. An aftermarket universal handle will often bolt in but throw a different arc, which leaves the flapper hanging open or not lifting far enough.
