TOTO THU859 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the TOTO THU859 kit and what does it include?
The THU859 is a genuine TOTO straight shutoff valve with a WASHLET connection kit, sold as a replacement part. It is the water supply side of a WASHLET install: the angle-free straight stop plus the connection pieces that tie the bidet seat into the supply. It is not the WASHLET seat itself.
2) Does the TOTO THU859 kit include the WASHLET seat or the toilet supply line?
No. The THU859 covers the shutoff valve and the WASHLET connection hardware only. The WASHLET bidet seat is ordered separately, as is anything else the rough-in needs.
3) Is TOTO THU859 the actual part number I order, or is there more than one version?
THU859 is the manufacturer part number, and it is ordered as a single item with no size, finish, or configuration choice to make. Ask for TOTO THU859 by that number and you get the straight shutoff valve with the WASHLET connection kit.
4) My WASHLET came with a tee. Why would I need the THU859 shutoff valve kit instead?
A WASHLET normally tees off the toilet supply at the existing angle stop. The THU859 replaces that approach with a TOTO straight stop plus connection kit, so it is what you use when the existing valve is seized, corroded, or a compression stop you do not want to reuse, or when the rough-in comes straight out of the floor rather than the wall. You are replacing the stop and making the WASHLET connection in one part.
5) Is the TOTO THU859 an OEM part or an aftermarket copy?
Genuine TOTO. The THU859 is the factory shutoff valve and WASHLET connection kit, so the connections are the ones TOTO built the WASHLET supply hose to mate with rather than a generic stop you have to adapt.
6) I manage a building with TOTO WASHLETs on several units. Can I stock one valve kit for all of them?
The THU859 is TOTO's own straight shutoff and WASHLET connection kit, so it is the part to standardize on where your openings take a straight stop. Buying it by part number keeps every unit on the same valve, which matters more than it sounds when a maintenance tech is swapping a seized stop under a fixture at 7am.
