TOTO TCU646CRE#12 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which Toto toilet does the TCU646CRE#12 tank lid fit?
The TCU646CRE#12 is the vitreous china tank lid made for the Toto CST646E toilet. It is a replacement lid only, so it fits that tank model; it is not a universal lid and won't seat correctly on other Toto tanks.
2) I manage apartments and the tank lid on a Toto toilet cracked. Do I have to replace the whole toilet?
No. On a CST646E, the lid is a separately available part, TCU646CRE#12 in china. Swapping just the lid keeps the existing tank and bowl in place, which is usually the cheapest fix after a dropped or cracked lid.
3) Does the TCU646CRE#12 come with the flush valve or trip lever, or just the lid?
Just the china lid. TCU646CRE#12 is the tank lid alone, nothing else. If the trip lever, flapper, or fill valve also needs replacing on the CST646E, those are ordered separately.
4) Will the TCU646CRE#12 lid match the other Toto toilets in my building?
Only if those toilets are CST646E models. The lid is cut and glazed for that specific tank, so matching across a building depends on the toilets being the same model. Check the model number stamped inside the tank or on the bowl before standardizing on this part.
5) What material is the Toto TCU646CRE#12 replacement tank lid made of?
It is a china (vitreous china) lid, the same material as the original tank, so the gloss and color match the CST646E tank rather than looking like a plastic aftermarket cover.
