TOTO TCU446CRE#12 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the TOTO TCU446CRE#12 part?
It's a vitreous china toilet tank lid, the replacement cover for the TOTO ST446E tank. Only the lid itself, no tank, no trip lever, no flush valve or fill valve hardware.
2) Will this TOTO china lid fit any TOTO toilet tank?
No. This lid is made for the TOTO ST446E tank and nothing else. TOTO tank lids are molded to a specific tank footprint, so a lid from a different tank model won't seat correctly. Pull the lid off the tank in the field and check the model number stamped inside the tank before ordering.
3) I manage a building with broken toilet tank lids. Can I just replace the lid instead of the whole toilet?
Yes, that's exactly what the TCU446CRE lid is for. If the tank and bowl are sound and only the china cover is cracked or missing, the lid swaps out on its own with no plumbing work. Match it to an ST446E tank, then confirm the color code so it matches the rest of the fixture.
4) What does the #12 on the end of TCU446CRE#12 mean?
The suffix after the pound sign is TOTO's color code, not a size. TCU446CRE#12 is the #12 finish version of this ST446E tank lid. If the toilet in your building is a different TOTO color, the lid part number changes at that suffix while the TCU446CRE base number stays the same.
