TOTO TET2GBI431#SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO TET2GBI431#SS a flush valve for a toilet or for a urinal?
It's a toilet flush valve. TOTO lists the application as toilet, so it is not the right part for a urinal fixture, which uses a lower flush volume valve. The TET2GBI431#SS flushes at 1.6 gallons, the standard toilet volume.
2) Does the TOTO TET2GBI431#SS mount in the wall or on the exposed supply?
Concealed. The TET2GBI431#SS is TOTO's concealed-mount electronic flush valve, so the valve body sits behind the finished wall with only the sensor plate showing. That means you need an accessible chase or carrier space behind the fixture, plus the wall opening roughed in before tile goes on. If the wall is solid and you need to surface mount on the exposed supply, this is the wrong configuration.
3) Will a 1.6 gallon flush valve work on a high-efficiency 1.28 gpf toilet bowl?
No. The TET2GBI431#SS is a 1.6 gallon per flush valve, and a bowl engineered for 1.28 gpf needs a valve matched to that volume to flush and refill correctly. Match the valve rating to the bowl rating stamped on the fixture; if your bowls are 1.6 gpf, this valve is the match.
4) Is this TOTO flush valve sensor operated or manual?
Sensor operated. TET2GBI431#SS is from TOTO's IoT EFV (electronic flush valve) line, so flushing is automatic with no handle to touch. For facilities standardizing on hands-free fixtures in restrooms, that's the behavior you're getting; if a manual lever is required by the spec, this isn't it.
5) What is the exact TOTO part number to order for the 1.6 gpf concealed IoT electronic flush valve?
Order TET2GBI431#SS. The #SS suffix is TOTO's finish designation on this valve, and it is the only configuration offered under that number, so the part number alone is enough to specify it.
