TOTO THU770-A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the TOTO THU770-A part?
The THU770-A is a TOTO replacement splash guard for the IWT WT171M in-wall tank system. It is a service part, not a complete tank or toilet, so order it when the guard itself is damaged or missing rather than as a way to obtain tank components.
2) Will the TOTO THU770-A splash guard fit any TOTO in-wall tank?
No. The THU770-A guard is specified for the IWT WT171M in-wall tank. If the tank behind your wall carries a different model designation, this guard is not the matching service part for it, and you should match the guard to the tank model stamped on the unit.
3) How many versions of the TOTO THU770-A splash guard are there, and do I need to pick a finish?
There is one, THU770-A. Nothing to choose on finish, size, or hand, so a property manager or plumber replacing guards across several restrooms orders the same part number every time.
4) I am servicing a TOTO IWT WT171M in-wall tank. What is the THU770-A used for on that job?
It's the splash guard component of the WT171M in-wall tank assembly. On a service call it is the piece you replace when the guard is cracked, deformed, or was left out after a previous repair; the rest of the tank, carrier, and flush valve are separate parts and are not included with it.
