TOTO THP5466#MBL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use the THP5466 handle to replace a broken handle on an existing TOTO thermostatic shower valve?
That is what it is for. THP5466#MBL is a replacement/trim ADA handle for TOTO thermostatic mixing valves in shower and tub installs. Match it to the TOTO thermostatic valve model already in the wall, since TOTO handles are specific to their valve series, and confirm the existing trim finish if you want the shower to stay uniform.
2) Does the TOTO THP5466#MBL include the thermostatic valve body?
No. THP5466#MBL is the ADA handle for a TOTO thermostatic mixing valve. The rough-in valve body is a separate item, so if you are building a new shower you need to order the valve as well as this handle.
3) What finish is TOTO THP5466#MBL?
The #MBL suffix on the TOTO part number is TOTO's matte black finish code, and THP5466#MBL is the only configuration of this ADA handle, so the finish is fixed rather than selectable. If your other shower trim is polished chrome or brushed nickel, order the matching #CP or #BN version of the handle instead.
4) Why specify an ADA lever handle on a shower thermostatic valve for a hotel or multi-family project?
An ADA lever handle can be operated with a closed fist or a loose grip, which is what accessible guest bath and common-area shower specs call for. Pairing this TOTO ADA handle with a thermostatic mixing valve also means the temperature setting is held by the valve, which is the usual institutional approach to scald control in shower and tub installations.
