ABB OHB175L12 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What sizes does the ABB OHB Series pistol grip handle come in?
The OHB Series pistol grip handle is offered in three sizes: 125mm (OHB125L10B), 145mm (OHB145L12), and 175mm (OHB175L12). The size corresponds to the handle assembly length, so match it to the operator mechanism and enclosure depth you are working with rather than picking on grip feel.
2) Can I use an ABB OHB pistol grip handle on an outdoor disconnect enclosure?
Yes. The OHB handle carries a NEMA 4/4X rating, which covers indoor and outdoor use including wet locations, washdown areas, and corrosive environments. Mounted correctly to a compatible ABB enclosure and disconnect operator, it lets you actuate the switch from outside without breaking the enclosure's environmental rating.
3) Does the OHB handle come with the disconnect switch, or is it a separate part?
It is a separate external operating handle assembly. The OHB handle actuates a disconnect switch inside a compatible ABB enclosure, so you order the switch and enclosure independently. Confirm your ABB disconnect's operator mechanism is one the OHB Series is built to fit before ordering.
4) Is the ABB OHB pistol handle UL Listed for commercial and industrial jobs?
It is UL Listed, which is what most commercial and industrial specs call for on an external disconnect operating handle. That listing plus the NEMA 4/4X rating is typically what an inspector or a spec writer is looking for on an enclosed disconnect operator.
5) Which OHB handle part numbers should I quote for a washdown food plant panel build?
All three OHB handles carry the same NEMA 4/4X rating, so the choice is size, not environment: OHB125L10B at 125mm, OHB145L12 at 145mm, or OHB175L12 at 175mm. For a washdown or corrosive area the 4X portion of the rating is the one that matters, and it applies across the series.
6) What color is the ABB OHB pistol grip handle?
Black across all three sizes. If you are standardizing the look of a panel lineup or a row of outdoor disconnects, every OHB handle in the series carries the same black housing.
