1) Can I get ABUS 64TI/40 padlocks all keyed alike for a set of gates or lockers?
Yes. The 64TI/40 is ordered either keyed different, or keyed alike to one of two factory key numbers, 6411 or 6412. Order every lock on the same key number and one key runs the whole set. Mixing the two alike numbers lets you split a property into two separate key groups without going to a custom keying program.
2) Is an aluminum-body padlock like the ABUS 64 Titalium strong enough for outdoor gates?
The 64 TITALIUM body is a special aluminum alloy, which keeps the weight down compared with a solid brass or steel body, and the shackle is hardened steel with a NANO PROTECT coating for corrosion resistance. The shackle is double bolted (locks on both legs) and the cylinder plug is chrome plated against corrosion. The 64TI/40 handles corrosion with a NANO PROTECT coated hardened steel shackle and a chrome-plated cylinder plug over a TITALIUM aluminum body. Where the lock sits in salt spray or gets hosed down, the Medeco 521 G8R is a weather-tight padlock with a solid stainless steel body, and the Medeco 54515G is rated for indoor and outdoor use. The G8R 521 ships less the pop-out cylinder, so you supply the cylinder separately.
7) Can I mix the ABUS 64TI/40 with Sargent or Schlage padlocks on the same key?
No. The 64TI/40 uses an ABUS paracentric key profile and is ordered keyed alike on 6411 or 6412, or keyed different, so its keys only cross other ABUS locks on the same alike number. Sargent padlocks such as the 758 and 858 and the Schlage KS23D/KS23F run their own keyways. If one key has to open every padlock on the property, standardize on one of these families rather than mixing them.
8) Will the 64TI/40 shackle fit hasps sized for a 5/16 inch shackle padlock?
Yes, it will drop straight through. At 15/64 inch the 64TI/40 shackle is thinner than the 5/16 inch shackles on locks like the Schlage KS23D/KS23F brass padlock or the Medeco 54515G, so anything drilled or formed for those accepts it. The trade-off runs the other way: a thinner shackle is easier to cut, so if you are replacing a 5/16 inch lock on an exposed opening, consider matching the original diameter.
9) Does the key come out of the ABUS 64TI/40 when the lock is open?
