Accentra 2721 689 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the difference between the stop only and the hold open thumbturn version of the Accentra 2700 Series door closer?
Two models, and the choice is about whether the door needs to stay put. The non-hold-open (stop only) model controls the swing and stops the door at the end of its travel, so the door always closes behind you. The hold open model adds a holder/stop thumbturn, so a user can dial the door to stay open at the stop position and release it when they want it closing again. On openings where the door must self-close every time, take the stop only model. Loading docks, classrooms during setup, and corridors you prop open for deliveries are where the thumbturn earns its place.
2) Is the Accentra 2721 door closer adjustable, or do I have to order a specific spring size per door?
It is a size 1 through 6 unit, so one closer covers the range rather than you specifying a fixed size per opening. That matters on a multi-building order: you can buy one part number for interior offices and exterior entries and set the spring power at install instead of sorting closers by door width at the jobsite. Size 1 through 6 spans light interior doors up through wide exterior openings, which is why adjustable closers are the standard spec on institutional and multi-family work.
3) Is the Accentra 2700 Series closer rated for commercial use or is it a residential closer?
Commercial. The 2700 Series is built for commercial door control, and it is the kind of closer specified on office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential, and government work. If you are closing an interior residential door in a single-family home, this is more closer than that opening needs.
