Accentra 60-7010-2040-605 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does this Accentra latch cover go on the top latch or the bottom latch?
Either one. The 60-7010-2040-605 is made for both the top and bottom latch positions on compatible Accentra exit devices, so on a vertical rod device you order the same part whether you're covering the head latch or the floor latch. Ordering two of them covers both ends of one door.
2) I manage a building with Accentra exit devices. Will this cover fit any exit device I have?
It fits compatible Accentra exit devices only. It is not a universal cover and it's not made to fit Von Duprin, Falcon, Precision or other brands. Pull the model number off the device chassis and confirm it calls for the 60-7010-2040 latch cover before ordering, especially if you have a mix of devices across the property.
3) What is the Accentra 60-7010-2040-605 latch cover and what does it do on an exit device?
It's a genuine Accentra replacement latch cover for the latch assembly on compatible Accentra exit devices. The cover closes off and finishes the latch housing so the assembly looks complete and stays protected. Model number is 60-7010-2040-605, and it's a commercial-duty part, not a residential one.
4) Is a latch cover a repair for an exit device that won't latch?
No. The cover is a trim and protection piece over the latch housing, not a working part of the latching mechanism. If the door isn't latching, the problem is in the latch assembly, the rod adjustment, or the strike, and replacing the cover won't change it. Order this when the existing cover is damaged, missing, or doesn't match the finish.
5) Is the Accentra 60-7010-2040-605 an aftermarket or an OEM part?
It's a genuine Accentra component, sold as a factory replacement part for Accentra exit devices. For institutional and MRO buyers keeping a spares bin, that matters: an OEM cover drops onto the existing assembly without filing or drilling.
