1) Will the Aiphone GT-AC keypad work with my existing electric strike or maglock?
The GT-AC keypad module gives you a selectable N/O or N/C dry contact for door release, so it drives either a fail-secure electric strike (normally open) or a fail-safe maglock (normally closed) without an extra relay board. You pick the contact state to match the lock you already have on the door. Power supply and lock current still come from your own supply, not from the keypad contact.
2) Is the Aiphone GT-AC a standalone keypad or does it need a GT Series intercom system?
It is a GT Series module. The GT-AC is built to mount into the Aiphone GT Series door entry platform and share that entrance station, so it is the code-entry piece of a GT intercom entrance rather than a self-contained keypad you hang on any door by itself. If you are not running GT Series at the entrance, this is the wrong part. Where a GT system is already installed, adding the GT-AC gives that same entrance a code path in addition to tenant call.
3) How many door codes can the Aiphone GT-AC hold, and is that enough for a small apartment building?
Up to 100 access codes at that entry point. For a 40 or 60 unit building where each tenant gets their own code, that covers it with room for staff and vendor codes. For a large office where every employee needs a unique code, 100 is the ceiling and you would be sharing codes or moving to a credential based system instead.
4) What does the Request to Exit input on the Aiphone GT-AC do?
The REX input lets egress hardware tell the keypad to release the lock from the inside. Wire a motion sensor above the door, or the request to exit switch in a push bar, into that input and the door unlocks for someone leaving without anyone touching the keypad. That is what keeps a maglock installation from trapping people and lets the exit event be handled by the same module doing the entry.
5) Does the Aiphone GT-AC replace the lock, or do I still need door hardware?
The GT-AC is the keypad and control module only. It signals a release through its N/O or N/C contact; the electric strike, electric lock or maglock, the power supply for it, and any exit device or motion sensor feeding the Request to Exit input are all separate and are not part of this module. Budget the opening as keypad plus locking hardware plus power.
6) Can I put the Aiphone GT-AC on more than one door?
One entry point. The 100 stored codes and the single door release contact serve the opening that keypad is mounted at, so a second controlled door needs its own module. Facilities standardizing across several entrances typically buy one GT-AC per entrance station.
