1) Does the Alarm Lock NETPDKPAK keypad work on its own, or do I need the NetPanel too?
The keypad will not run standalone. It requires the NETWORXPANEL to operate, and it draws its 12VDC power from that panel. That is why the NETPDKPAK is offered two ways: keypad only, for a site that already has a NetPanel with a spare door, or the KIT that includes the NetPanel and the keypad together. If this is your first Networx door, order the KIT.
2) How many doors will one Alarm Lock NetPanel controller handle?
Two. The NetPanel is a 2-door controller and supports 2 Networx keypads and/or 2 Wiegand output readers. For a third and fourth opening you add another panel, not another keypad on the same one. Plan the panel count off door count before you order.
3) How far can I run wire from the NetPanel to the Trilogy Networx keypad?
200 feet (61m) maximum wire length between the keypad and the NetPanel. Idle current draw is 10mA at 12VDC. On a long corridor or a panel sitting in a closet at the other end of the building, measure the actual pull path, not the straight-line distance, before you commit the panel location.
4) Will the Trilogy Networx keypad read the HID cards my building already uses?
It reads HID standard 26 to 37 bit format proximity cards and keyfobs. If your existing badges are HID prox in that bit range, they will work as-is and you do not need to reissue credentials. Cards outside that format range, or non-prox technologies, are a different conversation, so pull one of your badges and confirm the format before ordering.
5) Can I mount this Alarm Lock Networx keypad outside on an exterior gate or loading dock?
No. The NETPDK keypad is not weatherproof, so it belongs in a protected interior location or under genuine cover. Exposed exterior mounting will shorten its life. For a fully outdoor reader position you want a weather-rated unit instead of this one.
6) Can I add or delete users on the Trilogy Networx system without walking to every door?
That is the point of the Networx side. Bidirectional 802.11/ethernet communication lets you push user changes, time schedules, and firmware updates from the PC, and pull audit trail queries back, without touching the keypad. Global lockdown and passage can also be triggered from the PC or from a keypad. For a property manager running several buildings, that removes the site visit for routine turnover.
7) How many users and PIN codes can the Alarm Lock NETPDKPAK system hold?
