1) Are American Fittings LN conduit locknuts UL Listed for an inspection?
Yes, the LN steel locknuts are UL Listed, which is what an inspector looks for on a raceway termination into a panel, box or enclosure. They are also made in the United States.
2) Will a steel locknut work for bonding conduit to an enclosure, or do I need a grounding bushing?
The LN is a steel locknut. Steel gives it the mechanical strength to pull a fitting tight against the enclosure wall, and that metal-to-metal clamp supports grounding and bonding of the conduit system. It is not a grounding bushing though, and it has no lay-in lug for a bonding jumper. If your installation calls for a bonding conductor landed at the termination, order a grounding bushing separately and use the locknut with it.
3) What size locknut do I need for 3/4 inch EMT or rigid conduit?
Match the locknut to the trade size of the conduit or fitting, not to a measured thread diameter. For 3/4 inch conduit you want LN75-L. Trade size on threaded hubs and conduit fittings is standardized, so a 3/4 inch locknut threads onto any 3/4 inch fitting thread.
4) Do I need one locknut or two per conduit connection?
That depends on the termination. A connector with an integral shoulder that seats on the outside of the box takes a single locknut inside. A threaded nipple or a conduit end passing through the knockout takes a locknut on each side, so order in pairs. Count the openings on your job and buy accordingly, since the LN is sold by trade size only.
5) Are these locknuts steel or die-cast zinc?
Steel. That matters on larger sizes like the 1-1/4 and 2 inch, where a wrench or screwdriver-and-hammer is used to draw the nut up hard and a cast nut is more likely to crack or strip.
