1) What does the MK in American Lock A1305MK mean, and will each padlock have its own key?
MK means master keyed. The A1305MK ships keyed different, so every padlock opens on its own individual change key, and all of them also open under one master key you hold. That is the setup a property manager or maintenance supervisor wants when each tenant, cage, or gate gets a unique key but the crew needs one key that opens everything. If you instead want a group of locks that all share the same change key plus a master, that is the A1305KAMK.
2) What shackle clearance does the American Lock A1305 aluminum padlock give me for a hasp or chain?
The A1305 gives you a 1-1/8 inch vertical shackle clearance with a 3/4 inch inside shackle width, on a 3/8 inch diameter shackle. So the hasp staple or chain link has to pass a 3/8 inch shackle through it, and the material you are locking through has to fit inside a 1-1/8 by 3/4 inch opening. If a hasp eye or gate chain needs more vertical room than that, step up to the A1306 or A1307, which are the taller-shackle versions of the same 2 inch aluminum body.
3) Will a 2 inch American Lock aluminum padlock fit my existing hasp?
Body width is 2 inches, so the lock needs a 2 inch clear footprint across the hasp plate. The shackle itself is 3/8 inch diameter with a 3/4 inch inside width and 1-1/8 inch of clearance, which is the dimension that actually decides fit. Measure the hasp staple: if it is thicker than 3/8 inch the shackle will not pass, and if the stacked hasp material exceeds 1-1/8 inch the shackle will not close.
4) Can a locksmith rekey the American Lock A1305MK in the shop, or is it a throwaway lock?
