1) Does the American Lock A3570WOUN padlock come with a core or cylinder?
No core is supplied. The A3570WOUN is shipped without a cylinder and uncombinated, meaning you install your own small format interchangeable core and key it to your existing system. If you need the lock ready to use out of the box, order a version that includes a core instead.
2) Can I key this brass padlock to match my Best, Arrow or Falcon door locks?
Yes. It takes small format interchangeable cores and American Lock offers 16 SFIC keyway options including Best, Arrow and Falcon, so the padlock can run on the same keyway and master key system as your door cylinders. 3) Will a 3/8 inch shackle fit through my hasp, and how much clearance do I have?
The shackle is 3/8 inch in diameter with a 3/4 inch clearance between the legs and 1-1/8 inch of vertical shackle height. Your hasp holes need to accept 3/8 inch, and the material you are locking through has to sit inside that 3/4 by 1-1/8 inch opening. The body itself is 2 inches wide.
4) What is the difference between the A3570WOUN, A3570WOKA and A3570WOMK versions?
They differ only in how the cores are keyed. WOUN is uncombinated, so it arrives with no core and no key combination set. WOKA is keyed alike so one key opens every lock in the order. WOMK is keyed different under a master key, and WOKAMK is keyed alike under a master key. A3570WO (A3570WOKD) is keyed different with no master. Longer shackle heights are covered by the A3571WO and A3572WO models in the same 2 inch brass family.
5) I need a removable core padlock but with a taller shackle than 1-1/8 inch. What are my options?
Within the American 2 inch brass family, the A3571WO and A3572WO models cover the longer shackle heights with the same keying choices. Outside that family, the Sargent 60-858-2 is a removable core padlock with a 2 inch stainless steel shackle. The A3570WOUN itself is fixed at 1-1/8 inch shackle height with 3/4 inch clearance, so it will not span a thick hasp or a chain link.
6) I want a brass padlock that arrives ready to key rather than empty. What should I order instead?
The A3570WOUN ships without a cylinder and uncombinated, so it needs a small format interchangeable core supplied separately.
