Metallics WAKJ19QD – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Metallics WAKJ19QD include the yellow wall anchors, or just the screws?
Screws only. The WAKJ19QD is the screw component that goes with the 1/4 inch light duty Super Yellow wall anchor jar, so if you need the plastic anchors themselves you have to order the anchor jar separately. Order this one when you have anchors already set in the wall and have lost or stripped the screws.
2) Will these screws work in the 1/4 inch Super Yellow anchors already in my walls?
Yes. The WAKJ19QD screw is the one specified for the 1/4 inch light duty Super Yellow wall anchor, so it matches the thread and shank those anchors are made to grip. Using a different diameter screw in a plastic anchor is how you end up spinning the anchor in the drywall.
3) What size screw and driver do I need for the Metallics WAKJ19QD?
It is a #10 x 1 inch screw with a hex head taking a 5/16 inch socket or wrench, and it is also Quadrive, so a square drive bit will turn it as well. That dual drive is handy overhead on strut or box work where you cannot get a nut driver square to the head.
4) What are Metallics 1/4 inch Super Yellow anchors and screws typically used for in electrical work?
They are a light duty drywall anchoring setup for hanging the small stuff on an electrical job: surface boxes, low voltage brackets, cover plates, raceway and cable clips on hollow wall. Light duty is the operative word here, so anything carrying real weight should go to a toggle or into blocking instead of a plastic anchor.
5) Are Metallics WAKJ19QD screws made in the USA?
Yes, the WAKJ19QD screws are USA made. That matters on public and institutional jobs where domestic sourcing is a condition of the contract.
