The WAK16T is a combination kit: 3/16 inch red plastic wall anchors packed together with #8 x 1 inch pan head Phillips screws. The screws are steel with a zinc finish, and both the anchors and screws are made in the USA. Because the screws ship with the anchors, you don't have to source a matching fastener separately for light-duty hollow wall and masonry mounting.

Red plastic ribbed anchors like the 3/16 inch ones in the Metallics WAK16T are light-duty conical anchors. They hold best in a solid substrate such as concrete, block, brick, plaster or tile, where the wall material grips the expanded body. In hollow drywall with nothing behind it, the anchor has little to bite on, so for anything with real weight on it, a toggle bolt or self-drilling drywall anchor is the better call. Use these for low-load work like mounting device boxes, low-voltage plates, small brackets and cable clips.

They are matched to the #8 x 1 inch pan head Phillips screws supplied in the kit. If you burn through the screws and need replacements, order the same #8 x 1 inch pan head size so the thread bites the anchor body correctly. An oversized screw splits the plastic; an undersized one won't expand it.

The screws in the WAK16T kit are zinc-plated steel, which is a general-purpose indoor and protected-location finish. For exterior walls, wet locations or anywhere with salt exposure, step up to a stainless or hot-dip galvanized fastener instead, since zinc plating will eventually corrode in those conditions.
