Metallics DIA14CB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Do I need a setting tool to install a 1/4 inch steel drop-in anchor?
Yes. A drop-in anchor like the 1/4 inch DIA14CB is set by driving an internal expander plug with a matched setting punch after the anchor is seated in the drilled hole. The setting tool is sized to the anchor diameter and is not included with the box of anchors, so order a 1/4 inch setting tool separately if you do not already have one on the truck.
2) Will a drop-in anchor work in hollow block or drywall, or only solid concrete?
Solid concrete only. The 1/4 inch DIA14CB expands against the walls of a drilled hole and needs solid base material to develop hold, so it is wrong for hollow block cells, drywall, or ceiling tile. For hollow masonry use a toggle or sleeve-type anchor instead.
3) What is the Metallics part number for the 1/4 inch steel drop-in anchor box?
Order it as Metallics DIA14CB. That is the manufacturer part number for the 1/4 inch steel drop-in anchor supplied 250 to a box, and it is the number to quote when matching anchors already set on a job so the thread size stays consistent.
