Metallics WAK19T – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are plastic wall anchors like the Metallics WAK19T the right choice for mounting electrical boxes or conduit straps to drywall?
Plastic expansion anchors such as the 1/4 inch WAK19T are for light duty work on hollow wall board, things like low voltage plates, cable clips, small straps and signage. They expand against the face of the board, so they are not what you want for anything carrying real weight or taking vibration. For heavier loads use a toggle or a metal self drilling anchor, and where you hit a stud, drive a screw straight into the wood instead.
2) What size anchor is in the Metallics WAK19T wall anchor kit?
The WAK19T kit holds 1/4 inch yellow plastic wall anchors, 10 to a kit. The 1/4 inch figure is the anchor body size, so the hole you drill has to match the anchor rather than the screw diameter.
3) Does the Metallics WAK19T anchor kit come with screws?
The WAK19T is described as a 1/4 inch yellow plastic wall anchor kit of 10, packed in a clamshell. Plan on supplying the screws to suit your fixture unless the clamshell is marked otherwise.
4) Is the Metallics WAK19T sold in bulk for stocking a service van or MRO crib?
The WAK19T is a 10 piece clamshell kit of 1/4 inch yellow plastic wall anchors, with 200 to the case pack. That makes it a hanging pack format rather than a loose bulk box, which suits counter display, van stock or handing a kit to each tech on a job.
