Metallics J6721 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size hollow wall anchor is the Metallics J6721, and how many come in a jar?
The J6721 is a 1/8 inch short hollow wall anchor with a drive-point screw, packed 100 to a jar. Order by the model number J6721 to get that jar quantity rather than a loose count.
2) What is the difference between a short and a long hollow wall anchor like the 1/8 inch J6721?
Short versus long refers to the grip range, which is the wall material thickness the anchor is built to clamp. The J6721 is the short 1/8 inch version, so it is for thinner hollow wall such as a single layer of drywall or panel. If you are anchoring through thicker board or a double layer, you need the long version of the same 1/8 inch anchor instead.
3) Do I need a separate screw with the Metallics J6721 hollow wall anchor?
No separate fastener to buy. The J6721 ships as a hollow wall anchor with its drive-point screw, so the screw that sets and holds the anchor comes in the jar of 100.
4) Will the J6721 hollow wall anchor hold in solid concrete or masonry?
No. This is a hollow wall anchor, which works by expanding or toggling behind a thin wall skin with a void behind it. In solid concrete, block or brick there is nothing for it to grip, so you need a masonry anchor rated for solid base material instead.
