Metallics WAKQUAD – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are plastic wall anchors like the Metallics WAKQUAD right for hanging something heavy on drywall?
Plastic expansion anchors are made for light loads, signs, plates, small brackets, trim, cover plates. For heavier items on hollow drywall, go to a toggle bolt or a metal self-drilling drywall anchor instead, and into concrete or block use a sleeve or wedge anchor. The WAKQUAD kit is the light-duty option.
2) Which part number do I quote for the Metallics 4-part plastic wall anchor kit?
Order it as Metallics WAKQUAD. That is the manufacturer part number, and the kit is sold under that one designation with no size or finish options to specify.
3) What is the Metallics WAKQUAD wall anchor kit?
WAKQUAD is a plastic wall anchor kit from Metallics, sold as a four-part assortment under part number WAKQUAD. It's the kind of kit kept on a service truck or in an MRO crib for mounting light fixtures, boxes, brackets, and plates into hollow wall material.
4) Do I need to order screws separately with the Metallics WAKQUAD anchor kit?
The WAKQUAD is supplied as a four-part wall anchor kit in plastic, so the kit itself is what you order. Drill bit sizing is still on you, match the bit to the anchor body diameter so the anchor is a snug press fit before you drive the screw.
