Gang count is the only difference. The TVBS505 is the 2-gang recessed steel TV box and the TVBS507 is the 3-gang version. Both are the same steel box with the low voltage divider and white trim plate, and both are cULus listed. Pick the 3-gang TVBS507 when you need more room behind the display for a power receptacle plus multiple HDMI, coax, and network runs; the 2-gang TVBS505 is enough for a receptacle on one side and a single low voltage bundle on the other.
2) Can the Arlington TVBS505 TV box be installed in an existing drywall wall, or is it new construction only?
Both. The recessed steel TV box is made for new construction and retrofit into existing walls, so you can cut it into finished drywall on a mounted-TV job without opening the wall up. That is what makes it usable in occupied units where you are hanging displays after the fact rather than during framing.
3) Does the Arlington recessed TV box let me run power and HDMI in the same opening without a code problem?
Yes, and that is the point of the divider. The box has an integrated low voltage divider that physically separates the line voltage side from the low voltage side, so the receptacle and the HDMI, coax, or network cabling stay in their own compartments in one recessed opening.
