B-LINE B504GRN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the B-Line B504GRN splice plate used for?
The B504GRN is a four hole splice plate used to join two lengths of strut end to end. It is steel, ordered under manufacturer part number B504GRN, and the four holes take the strut nuts or bolts that clamp the joint together.
2) Is the green finish on the B-Line B504GRN suitable for corrosive or wet areas?
The B504GRN carries B-Line's Dura Green finish over a steel plate. That is a coated finish rather than bare or plain steel, which is why it gets specified where plain painted strut hardware would rust out. If your job calls for stainless or hot-dip galvanized specifically, this is not that part.
3) Do I need two B504GRN plates to splice a run of strut?
It depends on how the joint is loaded. A single plate on one face makes a light duty splice; back to back plates on both faces of the channel double the shear path and are the normal approach on a loaded horizontal run. Each B504GRN is one plate, so order accordingly.
4) Are there different finish or size versions of the B-Line B504GRN?
B504GRN is a single configuration: the four hole steel splice plate in Dura Green. There are no size or finish options to select on this part number.
