B-LINE B515GRN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the B-Line B515GRN z-support used for?
The B515GRN is an adjustable offset gussetted z-support, a formed steel bracket used to offset a strut channel, conduit run, or other supported load away from a wall, beam, or deck. The gusset is the stiffening rib that keeps the offset leg from flexing under load. Steel construction throughout.
2) How much offset and space does a B-Line B515GRN bracket take up?
Plan on a footprint of 3.87 x 3.5 x 1.87 inches for the B515GRN z-support. That 1.87 inch dimension matches the width of standard 1-5/8 inch strut, so the bracket sits in line with the channel rather than overhanging it. Useful when you are laying out how far a run will stand off a wall in a tight ceiling or chase.
3) Is the green finish on the B-Line B515GRN suitable for damp or corrosive areas?
The B515GRN carries B-Line's Dura-Green finish, a coating applied over the steel for corrosion resistance in environments harsher than a dry indoor mechanical room, such as wash-down areas, parking structures, and water and wastewater plants. If your spec calls out hot-dip galvanized or stainless instead, this is not a substitute for those.
4) Does the B-Line B515GRN z-support come with bolts, nuts, or channel nuts?
The B515GRN is sold as the bracket alone. You supply the fasteners: channel nuts and bolts for the strut side, and whatever anchor suits the substrate on the structure side, concrete anchors, beam clamps, or through-bolts. Order those separately so the job is complete on the first trip.
5) Is the B-Line B515GRN a listed or certified product for an inspection submittal?
No third-party listing or certification applies to the B515GRN z-support, so do not submit it as a listed component. It is an electrical department support bracket in steel with a Dura-Green finish, and it is specified on drawings by part number and finish rather than by a listing mark.
6) What part number do I order to match existing green B-Line offset supports in my building?
Order by manufacturer part number B515GRN. The GRN suffix is the Dura-Green finish, so if the brackets already on the racks are green B-Line z-supports, this is the matching piece for standardizing a facility on one bracket.
