B-LINE B580GRN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the B-Line B580GRN support used for?
The B580GRN is a five hole gussetted z-support in steel. The z-shape offsets a mounting point from a structural surface, and the gusset stiffens the bend so the offset leg carries load without spreading. Five holes give you a choice of fastener positions across the legs when you are hanging conduit, strut, or other electrical runs.
2) What does the GRN in B-Line B580GRN mean, and is it suitable for corrosive areas?
GRN refers to the Dura Green finish on the steel body. Dura Green is B-Line's coated finish used where plain steel would corrode quickly, so it is the version to specify for damp or wash-down electrical rooms rather than the plain or electro-galvanized version of the same bracket.
3) Do fasteners come with the B-Line B580GRN z-support?
The B580GRN is sold as the bracket alone. You supply the anchors, bolts, or screws to suit the structure you are fixing to and the hardware that attaches the conduit clamp or strut at the other end.
4) Is the B580GRN the right bracket if I need a straight flat support instead of an offset?
No. The B580GRN is a z-support, meaning the two mounting faces sit on offset planes connected by a gusseted web. If your conduit or strut mounts flush to the same surface as the fastening points, use a flat plate or angle bracket instead. Pick the z-support only when you need to step the run away from the structure.
5) Is the B-Line B580GRN a listed or certified item for a spec submittal?
No listing or certification applies to the B580GRN, and none should be shown on a submittal for it. Spec it on what it is: a gussetted steel five hole z-support in Dura Green finish.
6) Will a green B-Line z-support match the plain steel supports already on my job?
Only in shape, not in appearance. The B580GRN carries the Dura Green coated finish, so it will read green against plain or galvanized brackets on the same run. If visual consistency matters across the installation, order the whole run in the same finish.
