B-LINE B844YZN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the B-Line B844YZN bracket used for?
The B844YZN is a universal shelf bracket, welded rather than bolted together, made of steel with a yellow zinc chromate finish. It is an electrical-trade mounting bracket used to carry shelf or equipment loads off a wall or support member. Because it arrives welded, there is no assembly and no loose hardware to keep track of on the job.
2) Is the yellow zinc chromate finish on the B844YZN bracket suitable for outdoor or wet locations?
Yellow zinc chromate is a plated finish on steel, and it is intended for dry indoor service. It gives corrosion resistance for interior electrical rooms, utility spaces and equipment racks, not for direct weather exposure or washdown areas. For outdoor or damp locations, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless bracket instead.
3) Does the B-Line B844YZN bracket come with mounting screws or anchors?
No. The B844YZN is supplied as the welded steel bracket only. Fasteners are selected for what you are fixing into, so plan on ordering your own machine screws for strut or panel mounting, or wall anchors for masonry or drywall, sized to the bracket's mounting holes.
4) Does the B-Line B844YZN bracket carry a UL listing or other certification?
Certifications are marked as not applicable for the B844YZN. It is a plain steel support bracket, not a listed electrical device, so if your submittal package requires a listed support component, this is not the part to spec.
5) What part number should I order for the B-Line yellow zinc shelf bracket?
Order it as B-Line B844YZN. That is the manufacturer part number and there is a single configuration, so there is no finish or size option to specify when you place the order.
