1) What coil voltage does the B-Line D8PR7TFB relay use?
The D8PR7TFB is a 240V coil relay, so your control circuit has to supply 240 volts to pull it in. Wiring it to a 120V control leg will leave the contacts sitting open. Other coil voltages exist in the D8 family, so if 240V is not what your panel supplies, ask for the matching D8 relay rather than adapting this one.
2) Is the D8 plug-in relay normally open or normally closed?
DPST-NO: two poles, single throw, both contacts normally open. With the coil de-energized both circuits are dead, and energizing the 240V coil closes them together. If your sequence needs a circuit to break when the coil energizes, this is the wrong contact form and you want a relay with NC or changeover contacts.
3) How is the B-Line D8 general purpose relay mounted?
It is a plug-in relay with a flange mount, so it seats into a matching socket and the flange carries it to the panel surface or backplate. You are not screwing the relay body directly to DIN rail; plan on the socket being the mounting interface, ordered separately.
4) Can I get the same D8 relay in a different coil voltage?
Yes, the D8 series is built in additional coil voltages beyond the 240V of the D8PR7TFB. Tell us the control voltage in your panel and we will match the D8 part to it rather than having you compromise on the coil.
5) Do I need to replace the whole assembly when a plug-in relay fails?
No. Because the D8 is a plug-in design, a failed relay pulls out of its socket and a new one drops in with the field wiring left on the socket terminals. Match the replacement on coil voltage (240V here) and contact form (DPST-NO) and the existing wiring stays as-is.
6) What are the contacts made of on this B-Line relay?
Silver alloy contacts. That is the general purpose material, fine for typical control loads like contactor coils, solenoids and pilot devices. For very low level signal switching, where oxide films on silver can cause intermittent contact, a gold-plated contact relay is the better choice.
