B-LINE QC2015L – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Eaton QC2015L a one-pole or two-pole 15 amp breaker?
QC2015L is a two-pole breaker rated 15 amps, rated 120/240 V. That makes it the one to use for a 240 V load such as a small baseboard heater or a two-wire 240 V circuit, not for a single 120 V lighting or receptacle circuit. If you only need one hot leg protected, you want a single-pole breaker instead.
2) What does the cable-in/cable-out connection on the QC2015L mean for wiring it up?
The QC breaker is a cable-in/cable-out design, so both the supply and load conductors land on the breaker itself rather than the breaker plugging onto a panel bus stab. That is how these industrial miniature breakers get used in equipment enclosures, transformer and lighting cabinets, and manufactured wiring assemblies. If your panel needs a plug-on or bolt-on breaker, this is not the right style.
3) Can I use the QC2015L on a 277 V or 480 V circuit?
No. It is rated 120/240 V only, so it cannot be applied on a 277 V lighting circuit or a 480 V feeder. For those voltages you need a breaker with a rating that covers them; applying this one above its voltage rating is a code violation and it will not safely clear a fault.
4) Is this a thermal-magnetic breaker or an electronic trip unit?
Thermal-magnetic. The QC2015L uses a bimetal element for sustained overload and a magnetic element for instantaneous short circuit trip. There is no adjustable electronic trip unit and no ground-fault or arc-fault sensing in it, so if your circuit requires GFCI or AFCI protection, that has to come from a different device.
