B-LINE BA15W – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the B-Line BA15W acoustical tee fastener used for?
The BA15W is a troffer fastener, the small clip used to attach a recessed lay-in light fixture to the acoustical tee bar of a suspended ceiling grid so the troffer cannot shift in the grid. It is a white clip measuring 1 inch in height, length, and width, and weighs .018 lb.
2) Is the BA15W troffer fastener UL listed for electrical inspection?
Yes. The BA15W carries a UL/CUL listing, which is what an inspector looks for when fixture support and grid attachment components are reviewed on a commercial job. That listing covers both US and Canadian requirements.
3) What is the exact part number to order the white B-Line acoustical tee fastener?
Order it as Eaton B-Line part number BA15W. That is the manufacturer part number for the white acoustical tee troffer fastener, and it is the only model on the BA15W item.
4) Do I need one BA15W fastener per fixture or several?
Troffer fasteners are installed as a set, typically one at each corner or each end of the lay-in fixture where it bears on the tee, so a single BA15W clip covers one attachment point rather than a whole fixture. Count your points per fixture and multiply. Each clip weighs .018 lb, so quantity adds no meaningful load to the grid.
5) Is this the same as a hanger wire or grid clip for hanging a fixture from the structure?
No. The BA15W attaches the fixture to the acoustical tee itself; it is not a suspension component and does not replace the seismic hanger wires that carry fixture weight back to the structure. If your inspector is asking for independent support wires at the fixture corners, you need those in addition to these clips.
6) Will the white finish on this fastener show against a ceiling grid?
The BA15W comes in white, which blends with standard white painted acoustical tee bars and white troffer flanges, so it stays visually quiet at the grid line. Only white is offered on this fastener.
