B-LINE B705-J12ZN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I hang cable off this J-hook without buying a separate clamp?
No. The B705-J12ZN is the hook and rod only. To attach it to structural steel you need the B755-3/8 beam clamp, which is the mating part called out for it. Budget both lines on the order.
2) What is this J-hook made of, and will it hold up in a parking garage or exterior run?
Steel with an electro-plated zinc finish. That is a dry interior coating, fine for plenum, ceiling and equipment room runs. For damp, exterior or corrosive locations, spec a hot dip galvanized or stainless support instead.
3) Why use a J-hook instead of tray or conduit for low voltage cable?
A J-hook carries bundles of communications and low voltage cable in open runs above a ceiling, supporting the bundle at intervals without the cost and labor of tray. It is not a raceway and gives no mechanical protection, so where cable needs to be enclosed or protected from damage, use conduit or cable tray.
