B-Line Eaton series box support fasteners, Communication and low , 1" Height, 1" Length, 1" Width, 0.46lbs, 0.63" Raise, Uni-Mount box support/cover p

The BB40-10 is a box support / cover plate mounting bracket for single gang communication and low voltage boxes. It carries the box in the wall and gives the cover plate a mounting point, with a raise built in so the device sits proud of the stud or framing rather than flush to it.

No. The BB40-10 is a single gang bracket. For a two gang opening you need a two gang support, not this one.

Yes, it is UL/CUL listed, which is what most inspectors and institutional specs look for on box support hardware in commercial and multi-family work.

Steel with a pre-galvanized finish. The zinc coating handles ordinary indoor construction exposure and unfinished spaces like ceiling plenums and utility rooms. It is not a stainless or hot-dip part, so for corrosive or wet outdoor service you want a heavier-coated support.

They do different jobs. A bar hanger spans between studs to locate a box in open framing. The Uni-Mount BB40-10 is a support and cover plate mounting bracket for a single gang low voltage box, giving the plate something to fasten to and setting the raise. If your box already has framing support and you need the plate mounting and the forward set, this is the part; if you are hanging a box in mid-bay with nothing to fix to, use a bar hanger.

The spec data lists the size as a 1/2 inch raise, while the product description states 0.63 inch raise. That raise is what sets the box forward so the ring or cover plate finishes at the face of the drywall. Confirm which raise your wall build needs before ordering, since the two figures differ.
