The BB12-6 is an adjustable box stabilizer that provides far-side support for an electrical box mounted to a metal wall stud. The box screws to the stud on one side; the stabilizer braces the opposite (far) side so the box does not rack or twist when a device is pushed into it or a cover plate is tightened down.
2) Will the BB12-6 stabilizer work on wood studs?
No. This one is built for metal stud framing, sized to a 6 inch metal stud and adjustable down to 2.5 inches across the cavity. In wood framing, a box is normally nailed or screwed to the side of the stud or carried on a bar hanger between studs, and this stabilizer is not the right part for that.
3) Is the B-Line BB12-6 box stabilizer UL listed for electrical work?
Yes, it carries a UL/CUL listing, which is what an inspector on a commercial or institutional job will look for on box support hardware. The CUL side means it is recognized for Canadian installations as well.
